      知识点】(1)request为可数名词,意为“要求;请求”,多指比较正式的请求,其后常接“for+名词”的结构,引出请求的具体内容,意为“的要求”My friend refused their request for a meeting.我朋友拒绝了他们会面的要求固定搭配】make a request(for)sth.意为“要求/请求(某事物)”拓展】request还可做及物动词,意为“要求;请求”,其常见用法为:request sth.(from sb.)意为“(向某人)请求/要求某事物”They tried to request help from the society.他们试图向社会寻求帮助request sb.(not)to do sth.意为“请求某人(不要)做某事”The waiter requested me not to smoke in the restaurant.服务员请我不要在饭店里抽烟2)direction为名词,意为“方向;方位”,在此处指“(行路的)指引,指示”,做这一用法时常用复数形式He walked to the direction of the bank.他朝着银行的方向走去。
