It is a reading passage “Sad but beautiful”, which is mainly about the famous piece of music played by erhu and include the musician, his experience and his achievement in musical field. By learning the passage, Ss can know something about the famous music Erquan Yingyue and the musician Abing. First, Ss listen to some pieces of music. They are asked to share their opinions on the music. This is supposed to be an idea preparation for this section. Ss are more willing to learn the passage after careful preparation. So in this section, Ss will volunteer to share their opinions on the music. The teacher can elicit more. Then introduce Erquan Yingyue and Abing. Afterwards, learn the passage step by step. Do some exercises on it, like guessing and prediction, careful reading, detailed reading. In these ways, very naturally, Ss have some ideas about this passage. After doing reading exercises, Ss will be quite clear about Erquan Yingyue and Abing. To ensure their full participation, translating preparation in groups and presentation in a game are to be provided. At last, show Ss a short vedio about zhang Liangyin’s song and introduce her music experience briefly. After that, Ss are supposed to really think hard and come up with some original ideas, which can express their opinions about the musician Zhang Liangying. In a word, the whole lesson is reading practice involving all Ss. The tasks designed will help Ss understand the whole passage, practice reading ability and improve reading skills.
