THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN THE HEAVENThe Five People You Meet in the Heaven by Mitch Albom is a novel about the meaning of our life and the love in our heart. In 2003, the novel was published; it takes the author 6 years to write this book. It tells us a story about a man named Eddie; he is killed and goes to heaven. There he encounters five different persons from whom he will learn something about the meaning of his life.To begin with, the novel tells us something about the protagonist, Eddie. When he was a child, his father left him scarred in the long term. When he was a youth, the war ruined his dream and left him a bad leg. In his middle age, the heavy domestic responsibilities constrained his development. After his mother and his wife’s death, he feels lonely until he was dying. So he thinks that he is a loser in his life. He is head of maintenance at Ruby Pier, an amusement park. A car of the Freddy free fall ride comes crashing down upon him as he rushes to save a young girl from its path.Now the story begins. He goes to heaven and meets five persons. From each of the five persons the late Eddie encounters in turn, he learns something different about himself and its significance to his life and about life itself. He is awakened to his own worth and the value of his life. The first one is a stranger who has blue skin. This man tells him the interrelationship of all lives .The second one is his army captain, telling him the meaning of the sacrifice. The third one is the wife of the amusement park’s founder, who makes him to know the forgiveness. The fourth one is his wife, awaken him the everlasting value of love .The last one is a girl who was died because of Eddie, she shows that His daily routine had in fact fulfilled his lifes.The novel ends with a statement: That each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one. In your closing, leave the readers with something to think about.I think this book is a touching one. After the book was in print, it jumped high on the bestseller list, which leaves us to dwell on our own insignificance in the face of god. In fact, everyone is related with others. Everyone has his own meaning of life. We should learn the love, forgiveness and happiness. When you know what the true happiness is, you will get to heaven. It tells us his confused and how he emerges from the confusion.
