Lesson 22 The Giant (I) 一、语篇研读 What：本课语篇是一则童话故事，故事分上篇和下篇，本课为上篇主要讲解一个自私的巨人先后改变的故事首先他只想他自己，根本不会去关心他人他不想要孩子们在他的花园玩耍，并且把他们全部赶了出去在第二年的春天，他的花园被厚厚的雪覆盖，寒冷的风吹着，没有一只鸟儿出现……Why：通过接触“巨人”这一童话故事，让同学们对童话故事有一定的了解，体会文学的乐趣另外可以培养同学们的阅读能力，提高对英语学习的兴趣How：本课的语篇内容是“巨人”这一童话故事，主要内容为故事的细节在文章中大量运用过去进行时，让同学们对这一时态有一个更清晰的学习和认识例如文章中出现的One day the children were playing in the garden when a giant appeared. Once upon a time, there was a large, lovely garden. 从前，有一个美丽的大花园once upon a time意思是“从前；很久以前”，这是讲故事常用的开头语类似的表达还有long, long ago, a long time ago等Once upon a time, there lived an old man who had two beautiful daughters. 从前，有一个老人，他有两个美丽的女儿 (2). They ran away and dared not come back.他们逃走了，不敢再回来run away 逃跑，走掉；逃脱The thief had run away when the policemen came.警察来时小偷已经跑了。

No, 主语 + was not/ wasn’t. were not/ weren’t.【设计意图】通过对过去进行时的复习，可以让同学们对该语法知识点有一个更深刻的了解和认识。
