    • Unit 4 why don’t you talk to your parents?Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I am Yang Shuxing. It’s my great honor to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today I am going to talk about the first period in Section A of Unit 4 why don’t you talk to your parents?, which is taken from Go for it, Book 4. My presentation consists of seven parts: analysis of the teaching material,teaching aims,teaching keys and difficulties, analysis of the students, teaching methods, studying ways and teaching procedures.I. Analysis of the teaching materialThis unit mainly talks about how to give advice.The first period serves as an introduction and a lead-in part. The materials in talking are mostly from our real life and are familiar to students, so they are easily interested in it. A series of questions and a big picture are used to attracts students’ attention.And listening and pairwork are also used in this period.II.Teaching aims 1.  Knowledge aimsIn this lesson, the Ss should master the new words :allow,wrong, guess.midnightAnd they should know how to answer this sentence pattern(give advice):“What’s wrong?What should I do?You should/ could ...Why don’t you do…?Why not do...?You’d better do...2. Ability aimsIn this lesson, the Ss should master listening and speaking abilities and develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.3. Moral aimsFrom this lesson, the Ss should learn how to work with others and help each other, how to express their own ideas during the communication.Especially how to write their advice.III. Teaching keys and difficultiesAccording to the teaching aims, I think the focus of this lesson is the new expressions and help the Ss to communicate with each other. The difficulty is to help the Ss make conversations freely using the target language and the sentence pattern.IV. Analysis of the studentsThe Ss have learned English for one and a half years, they can express their thought and communicate with each other in English well. And all the Ss will be interested in the topic which is related to their real life. It’s helpful for our study of this lesson.V.Teaching methodsIn this lesson, I’ll mainly use the “task-based” teaching method, and it will be used in the whole lesson. I think it’s helpful to develop the Ss’ thought.I’ll also use “situation communicating” method. It can provide enough listening and speaking situations for the Ss. I think good teaching methods are the keys to success.VI. Studying waysIn this lesson, the Ss will learn how to be a good language learner, and how to communicate with others. It will be very helpful for their learning in the future. I think good studying ways can help the Ss to be good language learners. VII.Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead- in by showing their familiar topic pictures, which can encourage the Ss to speak out their problems and solve them themselves by using the sentences pattern:What’s wrong?What should I do?You should/ could ...Why don’t you do…?Why not do...?You’d better do...Purpose of my designing: First,It is the most important to get the Ss interested in your topic. Forming a better English learning surrounding and providing situations to review learned knowledge can help. Good beginning, half done.Step 2 PracticeDifferent person has different problems in the daily life. Let the Ss practice in pairs sharing their problems by using the sentence pattern.Purpose of my designing: This step is employed to make the Ss get the general idea of the dialogue as a whole one. And let the Ss have a chance to practice their listening and spoken ability. In this part, I use “situation communicating” method. Step 3 Listening , practice and discussing (1a,1b,1c)Purpose of my designing: It gives Ss practice in understanding the target language in listening and spoken conversations. In this part, I use “situation communicating” and “ task-based” method. Step4. Guessing gameEvery group chooses a problem without telling the other group, write down their advice on the paper and read aloud. Then let the other group guess the problem and choose the winner. Purpose of my designing: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained. Of course, it can practice the sentence pattern again.Step5. Listening (2a,2b)Before, Explain the differences between could and should.Purpose of my designing: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.Step6. SummaryMake a summary to know what they learn.Especially know how to give advice. Purpose of my designing: It is a good habit to let the Ss make a summary and rethink what the have learned.Step7.Homework Write a short composition by using the sentences pattern that we will study today.Pu。
