1、人民日报推荐国学经典孔子语录中英文翻译版性相近也，习相远也。By nature, men are nearly alike; by practice, they get to be wide apart.【译】人(或生命)先天具有的纯真本性，互相之间是接近的，而后天习染积久养成的习性，却互相之间差异甚大。过而不改，是谓过矣。Not to mend the fault one has made is to err indeed.【译】指有过错却不加以改正，这才是真正的过错，意指劝导人改过。己所不欲，勿施于人。What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.【译】自己不喜欢的，也不要亲自强加给对方。言必信，行必果。Keep what you say and carry out what you do.【译】指说出的话一定要足以信任，行动了就一定要有结果。君子以文会友，以友辅仁。The superior man on grounds of culture meets with his friends, and by the

2、ir friendship helps his virtue.【译】高尚的人凭借文才聚会朋友，凭借朋友辅助仁爱。三军可夺师也，匹夫不可夺志也。The commander of the forces of a large State may be carried off, but the will of even a common man cannot be taken from him.【译】军队的首领可以被改变，但是男子汉（有志气的人）的志向是不能被改变的。后生可畏，焉知来者之不如今也？A youth is to be regarded with respect. How do you know that his future will not be equal to our present?【译】年轻人是值得敬畏的，怎么就知道后一代不如前一代呢？有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎？Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters?【译】老朋友见面很开心。人不知而不愠，不亦君子乎？Is he not a man o

3、f complete virtue, who feels no discomposure though men may take no note of him?【译】人家不了解（我），（我）也不生气，不也是品德上有修养的人吗？父在，观其志。父没，观其行。三年无改于父之道，可谓孝矣。While a mans father is alive, look at the bent of his will; when his father is dead, look at his conduct. If for three years he does not alter from the way of his father, he may be called filial.【译】（看一个人孝不孝）父辈在时，我们要观bai察他儿子的志向是否符合正道；父辈不在世时，我们要观察他儿子的举止行为是否符合正道。多年以后他还是坚守父辈的合理的处事准则，没有改变正道的标准，这才可叫做孝道。不患人之不己知，患不知人也。I will not be afflicted at mens not knowing me;

4、 I will be afflicted that I do not know men.【译】不要担心别人不了解自己，只要担心自己不了解别人。诗三百，一言以蔽之，曰：思无邪。In the Book of Poetry are three hundred pieces, but the design of the mall may be embraced in one sentence- Having no depraved thoughts.【译】诗经三百篇的微言大义，可以用一句话来概括，就是“思想纯正”。关睢乐而不淫，哀而不伤。The Kwan Tsu is expressive of enjoyment without being licentious, and of grief without being hurtfully excessive.【译】关雎这首诗快乐而不放荡，悲哀而不悲伤。父母在，不远游，游必有方。While his parents are alive, the son may not go abroad to a distance. If he does go

5、abroad, he must have a fixed place to which he goes.【译】父母在世，不出远门，如果要出远门，必须告知自己所去的地方。德不孤，必有邻。Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbors.【译】有道德的人是不会孤单的，一定有志同道合的人来和他相伴。吾十有五而志于学，三十而立，四十而不惑，五十而知天命，六十而耳顺，七十而从心所欲，不逾矩。At fifteen I set my heart upon learning. At thirty, I planted my feet firm upon the ground. At forty, I no longer suffered from perplexities. At fifty, I knew what were the biddings of Heaven. At sixty, I heard them with docile ear. At seventy, I could follo

6、w the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.【译】我十五岁就立志学习，三十岁就能有所成就，四十岁遇到事情不再感到困惑，五十岁就知道哪些是不能为人力支配的事情而乐知天命，六十岁时能听得进各种不同的意见，七十岁可以随心所欲(收放自如)却又不超出规矩。贤哉回也!一箪食，一瓢饮，在陋巷，人不堪其忧，回也不改其乐。贤哉回也!Incomparable indeed was Hui! A handful of rice to eat, a gourdful of water to drink, living in a mean street. Others would have found it unendurable depressing, but to Huis cheerfulness it made no difference at all. Incomparable indeed was Hui.【译】颜回的品质是多么高尚啊！一箪饭，一瓢水，

7、住在简陋的小屋里，别人都忍受不了这种穷困清苦，颜回却没有改变他好学的乐趣。颜回的品质是多么高尚啊！知者乐水，仁者乐山。知者动，仁者静。知者乐，仁者寿。The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills. The wise are active; the virtuous are tranquil. The wise are joyful; the virtuous are long-lived.【译】聪明的人喜欢水，仁德的人喜欢山。聪明的人好动，仁德的人恬静。聪明的人快乐，仁德的人长寿。逝者如斯夫，不舍昼夜。It passes on just like this, not ceasing day or night!【译】形容时间像流水飞逝，一去不复返。食不厌精，脍不厌细。He did not dislike to have his rice finely cleaned, nor to have his minced meat cut quite small.【译】形容食物要精制细做。非礼勿视，非礼勿

8、听，非礼勿言，非礼勿动。Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety; speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety.【译】不合符礼教的话不能说，不合符礼教的东西不能看，不合符礼教的事不能做。人无远虑，必有近忧。If a man take no thought about what is distant, he will find sorrow near at hand.【译】没有长远的打算，近期的事情就会多有忧虑。君子有三戒。少之时，血气未定，戒之在色。及其壮也，血气方刚，戒之在斗。及其老也，血气既衰，戒之在得。There are three things which the superior man guards against. In youth,when the physical powers, are not yet s

When he is strong and the physical powers are full of vigor,heguards against quarrelsomeness.When he is old,and the animal powersare decayed, he guards against covetousness.【译】君子有三种事情应引以为戒：年少的时候，血气还不成熟，要戒除对万事万物的诱惑；等到身体成熟了，血气方刚，要戒除与人争斗；等到老年，血气已经衰弱了，要戒除贪得无厌。唯女子与小人，为难养也。近之则不逊，远之则怨。Of all people, girls and servants are the most difficult to behave to.If you are familiar with them, they lose their humility. If you maintain a reserve towards them, they are discontented.【译】和那些内心阴险狡诈、卑鄙无耻的人是最难相处的，和他亲近相处时他不懂得谦逊有礼对别人，别人疏远他了，他又有怨恨。
