This play is about a big fight in an American family. By reading the play will

      2、find out that the problems between the parents and children. In a word, learing this lesson can improve studentsability of listening, speaking, reading, especially the reading skill. So the selected material plays a very important part in English teaching and learning 2)Analysis of the Ss In senior high school, there are more and higher requirements for the Ss. It is very important for them to read more English articles. Part two Teaching aims1)Knowledge aim: To know some new words and expressio

      3、ns. To know about a play.2)Ability aim: To develop the Ss ability of reading a play3)Emotional aim: To develop Ss spirit of cooperation To help the Ss understand and respect their parents. Teaching key and difficult points: 1) To To help the Ss get familiar with the characteristics of the play . 2) Try to come up with the methods to solve the problems between parents and teenagers. Teaching methods: 1) Communicative teaching method 2) Task-based teaching method 3) Situational language teaching m

      4、ethodsStudying methods 1. Basic learning strategy The Ss can get the meaning of words and phrases. 2. Practice strategy Practice can help the Ss get the general idea and have a better understanding of the language. 3.Communication strategy Teach the Ss how to be successful language learners Let the Ss pass “Observation- Imitation- Practice” strategy to study language.Part three: Teaching procedures Step1 Lead-in 1)Ask the Ss several questions about their experiecnce of home alone. 2)Show the Ss

      5、a part of the film Home A lone. 3)To remind the Ss the instructions on reading a play. Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by watching a short video and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step. Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Play the tape of the play and ask the Ss to listen to it then try to find the answer of the following questions. 1)Who are the main characters in the play? 2)Why do the parents get angery? 3)W

      6、hat really happened to their dog, spot? 4)Whats the main idea of this play? 2. Point out the important and difficult words and phrases. Purpose:TO help the Ss understand the dialogue and the relationships between people better. Step 3 While-reading1.Group work Read the play a second time in a group of 4 and try to act it out. Pay attention to the voices, gestures, expressions, attitudes of the four characters 2. Practice: Read the sentences below and decide which ones are T and which ones are F

      7、according the play. 1) The boy do not expect their parents to come back so early. 2) Spot, the dog, looks full of life. 3) Daniels parents still think of him as an adult. 4) The boys did not clean the house bucause they went to the clinic. 5) Eric does not want to explain to their parents. 3. Answer the following questions based on your comprehension. 1)What are the boys doing when their parents come home? 2)How does the room look when the parents arrive home? 3)Why are the parents angrier with

      8、Daniel than with Eric? 4)What the emergency that Eric wants to tell his parents about? Purpose: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop Ss ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained. Step4 Post-reading 1.Role play:Each group acts as a role. 2.Debate Have a debate about “Do you think Eric and Daniel will explain to their parents what has happened? Or will the parents go and ask the boys what has happened? Purpose: To think the methods of solvin

      9、g the problems between parents and teenagers. And tell them to have a positive attitude towards these things. Step5 Homework 1. Listen to the record and try to imitate the actors. 2. Complete the exercises on Page24. 3. Underline difficult words and phrases. Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned. Part four: Blackbord designOn the left of the Bb,Ill write down some language points.
