Population用法1．当population直接作主语时，意为“人口数”，这时谓语动词要用单数形式例如： The population of this city is six million．这个城市的人口是600万2. 当主语是表示"人口的百分之几、几分之几"时,谓语动词用复数形式 例如: About seventy percent of the population in China are farmers. 中国大约有百分之七十的人口是农民3．population多以单数形式出现，指某个国家、地区或城市的人口若以复数形式出现，则指世界不同地区的人口例如： Many parts of the world have become deserts．They once had large populations and produced plenty of crops．世界上许多地区曾经人口众多，五谷丰登，而今却成了沙漠 4．表示“某地有多少人口”有两种表达方式： 1）The population of ＋某地＋is/was＋数词2）某地＋has a population of ＋数词例如： The population of China is about 1．3 billion．（＝China has a population of about 1.3 billion．）中国大约有13亿人口。

4．询问“某地有多少人口”要用“What's the population of+某地”或“How large．．．？”提问，例如： What's the population of Germany？（＝How large is the population of Germany？）德国的人口是多少？ 5．表示人口“多”要用large或great修饰，表示人口“少”要用small修饰例如： 10，000 years ago ，the world's population was very small．一万年前世界人口很少 The population of China is much larger than that of the USA．中国的人口比美国的人口多得多。
