It’s the necessary basic of the following lessons.So this lesson is very important in this unit.2. Analysis of the students The students in Grade 3 are about ten years old.They are really lively and active . For English,they are full of curiosity and freshness,but they lack of the self-study ability . They usually stop speaking English as soon as they leave class. It’s not good for learning English. 三、Teaching aims1． Knowledge aims:（1）To listen, read  and write the new words : tall ,short ,thin and fat.（2）Be able to describe some animals with adjectives and the sentences  Look at that ….It’s ….2． Ablility aims:（1）To develop the ability of obersvation.（2）To improve the ability of using English to  talk freely.3． Emotional aims:（1）To build up the correct opinion and love animals and protect them . (2)To improve the aesthetic of the nature and love life better.四、Teaching key points and difficult points Key points1．To master the new words: tall ,short ,thin and fat.2．To get the ability of describing animals with the sentences Look at that …It’s…  .3.Be able to do the actions of Let’s do. TPR teaching method 5.Student-centered teaching method六、Teaching aidsAnimal toys，a projector and PPTcourseware七、Teaching procedureStep 1.Warm-up/ Lead-in1、 Greetings:Make dialogues with the students in oral English.Purpose of my designing:It can promote the friendship between students and the teacher.2、Lead-in :Show some animal toys for the students to look at and talk about it. Then show the picture of a zoo.And tell the children:Today,let’s go to the zoo . We’ll see more animals at the zoo. Purpose of my designing: The beginning can arouse the students’  interest of study. Educate the students to follow the rules at the zoo.（The students will receive moral education while they are learning English .）Step 2．PresentationTo visit the zoo as the main line to learn the  new knowledge of this lesson.1．I’ll use CAI to show some pictures for the students to review some words about animals.It’s a brain storm.Then show a new friend to learn the word giraffe.2． Let’s learn:Show the pictures to teach the new words tall and short.Emphasize the pronunciation of them.After reading them ,lead the students to describe the giraffes with the sentences:Look at that_.It’s__.Then perform the actions Be tall,be tall,be tall, tall,tall . It’s the better preparation of Let’s do.Teach the other two adjectives –thin and short in the same way.Pay attention to the sound of thin.3. Play the video of Let’s learn. Let the students listen and imitate .The purpose is to train the ability of listening and reading.Step 3 Practice1.Let’s do Play the video .Let the students do the actions while they are listening and speaking. Purpose of my designing: The activity is to arouse the children to take an active part in . It can also help the students understand the meaning of the words.2.Guessing gameShow a part of some animals for the students to guess, then describe them in pairs.Such as（a picture of a panda）Purpose of my designing: This game can make the students be active in speaking English.Step 4．Consolidation\ExtationThe purpose is to develop the skills of using English to the daily life. 1. Tell the students we can describe not only animals but also people. For example: (a picture of Yao Ming and Zhou Libo) Pay attention to the use of pronouns.2.CompetitionDivide the students into two groups to introduce the animal toys they have taken.Or describe their friends,their family,even or their teachers.
