During theoilfield development period,thetask of the geologists is to forecast thereservoir properties and its description parameters,to make thereservoir distribution and its heterogeneityclear and then decrease therisk of deployment. It's difficult to fulfill accurately thefine structure near thewell and not easy to forecast thedistribution of lithology and the lateral variation of the reservoir by usingroutine seismic profile. This paper presents the VSP technology principle, data collection andinterpretation in both zero and non-zero offset distance sides. Taking Jin 612-22-36 and Jin 612-8-20 twowells as evidence, the paper presents the application of the VSP data and its effect. This approachincreases the resolution factor of the three dimensional seismic data and thus links the seismic profile andgeological horizon, positions the Western and Northern faults of block Jin 612 accurately, makes thereservoir distribution both in Northern and Northwestern clear.
