After reading “To Kill a Mocking Bird” When reading the whole book, putting down the book and sorting out my thoughts, my heart is filled with anger and gratifying. Though words are limited, they contain much more than that. In 1930s, the Great Depression of the southern United States, two children and their father are living in a white and black mix town quietly. The two children, little sister called Scout, older brother called Jem. Their father Atticus, is a lawyer, also the town legislators, upright and selfless. Children’s mother died when Scout was two. It happened between the three years of Scout's 6 to 9 years, and his brother is four years older than her. The Scout family lived alongside what they call a “ weirdo “ neighbor, which is never out of his house. It is said that he has once stabbed his father, everyone says he is a psycho, so his family don’t allow him to go out. But Atticus never tell them to do so, only let them not to disturb the Arther Boo Radly, who is what they call “weirdo“. So the children use the rumor to make up various stories, speculate on the hidden mystery and design a plan to lead him out. In the two summer holidays that followed, three children find that they often keep small gifts for trees outside Radly's home. Sometimes, the mysterious Boo shows them to children, but unfortunately, Boo never appear in person. Black Tom helps a white woman Mayella a lot. There is a Mayella seduction of Tom, just seen by Mayella's father, Ewell. Then her father Ewell beat up his daughter, because Ewell hates black people, but also because his daughter’s behavior makes him feel ashamed in that society. He is afraid to let people know his daughter's behavior is despised by people, so they intend to falsely accuse black rapes. Lawyer Atticus resists the pressure from outside to defend Tom, and the truth gradually emerged from the analysis of Atticus. However, Tom is finally sentenced to death because of white people’s contempt, discrimination and instinctive distrust of blacks. Tom loses confidence in Atticus's appeal, determines to escape, and is killed by white guards in the process of prison break, and every sight of justice and freedom at the end of the death. Ewell, who thinks he has lost face, still resentment after winning a lawsuit by people's prejudices, trying to revenge on lawyer Atticus, and even trying to kill Atticus children after drunkenness. The children bravely fight and with the help of Arther, Ewell is not successful. Ewell is killed when Arther saves children. Although Atticus thanks Arther for saving his children, but he works as a lawyer, thinks Arther should still be in the trial. Atticus is persuaded by the sheriff Tate, Tate says ‘Ewell should be dead. He kills a clear white black and wants to kill two children’.
