康桥，即英国有名的剑桥大学所在地1920年10月—1922年8月，诗人曾游学于此康桥时期是徐志摩一生的转折点诗人在《猛虎集·序文》中曾经自陈道：在24岁以前，他对于诗的兴味远不如对于相对论或民约论的兴味正是康河的水，开启了诗人的心灵，唤醒了久蛰在他心中的诗人的天命因此他后来曾满怀深情地说：“我的眼是康桥教我睁的，我的求知欲是康桥给我拨动的，我的自我意识是康桥给我胚胎的《吸烟与文化》) 1928年诗人故地重游11月6日在归途的中国南海上，他吟成了这首传世之作这首诗最初刊登在1928年12月10日《新月》月刊第1卷10号上，后收入《猛虎集》可以说“康桥情节”贯穿在徐志摩一生的诗文中，而《再别康桥》无疑是其中最出名的一篇 此诗作于徐志摩第三次欧游的归国途中时间是1928年11月6日，地点是中国上海7月底的一个夏天，他在英国哲学家罗素家中逗留一夜之后，事先谁也没有通知，一个人悄悄来到康桥找他的英国伴侣遗憾的是他的英国伴侣一个也不在，只有他熟识的康桥在悄悄等待他，一幕幕过去的生活图景，又重新在他的眼前呈现……由于他当时时间比较紧急，又赶着要去会见另一个英国伴侣，故未把这次感情活动记录下来。

直到他乘船离开马赛的归国途中，面对汹涌的大海和宽阔的天空，才展纸执笔，记下了这次重返康桥的切身感受 不过当时的徐志摩留下的是英文版的《再别康桥》，当时是一位不知名的中国人翻译过来的 第 3 页 共 3 页。
