      2、ctionThe rubber wheel abrasion tester is a widely used testing equipment for evaluating the wear resistance of rubbers, plastics, and other materials. The machine applies a force to a rotating rubber wheel that is pressed against the test specimen. The friction between the wheel and sample causes abrasion on the specimen surface, which is used to evaluate the wear resistance and durability of the material. However, the friction behavior can vary depending on the sample properties, test parameter

      3、s such as load, speed, and contact pressure, which can lead to inaccurate and inconsistent results. In this study, the Equal Friction Surface test method is introduced to optimize the rubber wheel abrasion tester, aiming at improving the accuracy and repeatability of the test results.Materials and MethodsThe test materials used in this study were Neoprene rubber and Nitrile rubber. The rubber wheel abrasion tester (model XYZ-123) was used to conduct the experiment. The Equal Friction Surface tes

      4、t method involved a modification of the standard test method by changing the rubber wheels contact area. Instead of using the entire wheel to contact the specimen, a small section of the wheels surface was machined to achieve a smooth and flat surface, which was then used as the contact surface. The contact surface was equalized by measuring the surface roughness of the contact surface using a surface profiler. The equalized surfaces roughness level was maintained at Ra 0.2m for all the tests.Th

      5、e testing conditions were kept constant at a load of 10N, a speed of 140rpm, and a contact pressure of 1MPa. The test duration was set at 5 minutes, and the testing temperature was maintained at room temperature. For each sample, three replicates were tested, and the average wear resistance was calculated based on the weight loss of the samples.Results and DiscussionThe results showed that the Equal Friction Surface test method produced consistent and reproducible results for both Neoprene and N

      6、itrile rubber. The wear resistance increased with an increase in hardness for both materials, which was consistent with previous studies. The equalized contact surfaces roughness level ensured that the frictional force acting on the specimen was constant, leading to a reduction in the variability of the results.ConclusionIn conclusion, the Equal Friction Surface test method is a valid approach for testing the wear resistance of rubber materials using a rubber wheel abrasion tester. The method en

      7、sures consistent and reproducible results, which can be used for characterizing the materials properties and assessing their durability. Further studies can be conducted to investigate the effect of different test parameters on the friction behavior of rubber materials using this test method.Moreover, the Equal Friction Surface test method can be beneficial for industries that require quality control and product development.
