He is a famous critical realistic writer. He delineated(勾画，描述） a lot of characters of tragedies, showing various persons’ enchantment.（魅力） Hardy’s First WifeHardy’s First Wife Emma Gifford a woman of high social status. She had a very interestingpersonality and was always remember by visitors to the Hardy household. She died in 1912. Thomas and Emma Hardy resided at Max Gate from 1884 onward. Desighed by Hardy himself Second wifeSecond wife —Hardy’s nurse, companion and fan. In 1914, Hardy married his secretary Florence Emily Dugdale, who was 39 years his junior. Due to Florence’s care, Hardy could remain healthy and continue his writing career. Outline • Tess makes another journey away from home, and she meets and falls in love with Angel Clare. After the wedding, Tess and Angel confess their pasts to each other. Tess told Clare that she was raped by another man, but Clare cannot forgive Tess .Clare going to Brazil for a year and Tess going back home. Tess’s father died, her whole family has nowhere to live. At this difficult time, Alex give them house、food and money, but Tess have to be his mistress. Clare decides to forgive his wife. He leaves Brazil, desperate to find her. When Tess saw Clare, her anger to Alex up to the highest point, she though her life was destroyed by Alex, so she killed Alex and become a fugitive（逃亡者） with Clare.
