Feminism has been favored by experts and scholars in the feminist theme of Literary works more or less reflect the feminism history status in different periods, exploring the literature on the development of the social position of feminism can make us have a deeper understanding of feminism.Based on the feminist social phenomenon reflected in the life course of the heroines of Vanity Fair, Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley, this paper analyzes the social situation of western feminism in the 19th century. The images of traditional women in many literary works of this period are undoubtedly sad and have profound meanings. These literary works with feminist significance are taken as the research basis to feel the social definition of women in different periods. Thackeray, as a realistic writer, was inspired by feminism and supported the independence and rights of feminism. Vanity Fair revealed the status quo of feminism at that time and compares it with the impact of feminism on traditional women. Vanity Fair was Thackeray’s masterpiece, which was also a masterpiece of realism.
