Marlow mentioned these female character in order to give the literal aspect of his tale more substance. Although they play specific roles in the story, they do not relate with the primary theme of the story. 2021/5/239Female character of Heart of DarknessThrough marlow’s voyage he encounters few women and he does not consider any of them to be his equal. He makes it quite clear that women and men are on two totally different levels.
