Depending on the motorization, the E87 weighs between1 - Garage dimensions E872 - Garage dimensions E87691,280 kg and 1,335 kg. It has a possible payload of 500 kg (E46/5: 425 kg).It has a trailer load of 1,200 kg. In comparison, the E46/5 has a trailer load of 1,300 kg.Bonnet, engine compartmentThe bonnet is made from steel and features sound insulation on the inside. As on the E46, the bonnet can be set in the servicing position with the aid of special tool 51 2170.In the engine compartment, the vehicle identification number is punched on the right- handwheelarchandthebodyshellnumberon the left-hand wheel arch. The filter for the heating/air conditioning system is accessible from the enginecompartment. Bi-xenon headlights are also optionally available. Adaptive headlights are currently not planned for the E87.It is not necessary to remove the headlights in order to replace the bulbs. If, for any other reason it is necessary to remove the complete headlight system, the bumper trim panel should be removed to prevent it being damaged. Two headlight adjusting screws are provided (horizontal/vertical adjustment). Adjusting screws are also provided to adjust the gaps between the complete headlight assembly and the body. This function not only enhances the visual appearance of the vehicle but it also serves to minimize wind noise.4 - Front headlight system89Front bumperA new feature of the E87 bumper system is the two-piece design of the bumper trim panel. The bumper carrier absorbsforcesatspeedsbetween4 km/hand 8 km/hwhiledeformationelementsabsorbthe forces between 8 km/h and 15 km/h. Theengine supports are only affected by impacts at speeds in excess of 15 km/h.The bumper system therefore consists of a top panel and a bottom panel. The bumper carrier is located behind these panels, followed by the deformation elements. If applicable, the PDC sensors and fog lights are accommodated in the trim panel.5 - Front bumper system99Front endAfter removing the bumper trim panel, the complete front end, including the bumper carrier, headlights, air ducts and bonnet lock, can be removed. The bowden cable assembly can be disconnected at its parting point. The screw connections to the engine support must be released and the electrical connections to the headlights unplugged.Front doorThefront door ismade from steel. Itfeatures a side impact protection system together with itsanchoring.Thedoorhandleispaintedinthe car colour and can be removed and installed similar to on the E46. A lock that can be operated with the slide-in key of the identification transmitter is integrated in the door handle on the driver's side. The outside mirror is secured with three screws to the door. A new feature of the outside mirror is its central connector, making disassembly and assembly easier. If necess。
