West Lake Silk Umbrellas  Umbrella is always a symbol of romance in Hangzhou, because in the classical love legendary “Lady White Snake”,they passed their love through an umbrella when they first met in a rainy day at the West Lake.  West Lake Silk Umbrella is one of Hangzhou characterized souvenirs. Hangzhou was well known for the umbrella techniques in ancient times.  In 1930s, a worker of Hangzhou Du Jingsheng Silk Factory, tried to make umbrellas of Hangzhou silk and light bamboos: bamboos strips for umbrella’s framework, and silk for the surface.  This kind of umbrella combines handworks and Chinese art: the images on the surface are basically West Lake scenery, landscape, flower, bird and ladies of old times, etc. The creator had a very strict system of material choosin.  Every year, he went to countryside and lived here for half a month, to search for suitable bamboos in the mountains, until he got what he needed. This principle and technics guarantees the quality for a long time, making umbrellas not only beautiful, but also practical, can stand strong wind and solarization.The Wangxingji Fan The Wangxingji Fan is famous both in China and abroad. The initiator of this ancient store is Wang Xingzai who lived in Hangzhou for making fans. He set his first fan store with his family in Hangzhou which has a long history about 130 years. His fans are famous for their top-quality and beautiful design. With the exquisite workmanship, unique functions and elegant taste, Wangxingji fan was famous as one of the three matchless products(杭产三绝) in Hangzhou besides Zhejiang's silk and the Longjing Tea at that time. Wangxingji Fan has constructed a colorful kingdom of fans with its traditional techniques, rich varieties and quality brand, and become the only old fan mill still existing in China. There are more than 400 varieties of products in 15 categories. The fans made by Wangxingji are called "the treasure of oriental art" by overseas friends.。
