    • Period 5 Writing; Cultural Corner; Task; Module File整体设计教材分析This period contains four parts. The first part aims at improving students’ logical thinking by placing random sentences in order. They are also expected to put what they learned into practice, that is, to write a short paragraph about health problems. In the next part, they will learn about the health care system of some countries such as Britain, America and Canada. Through the reading of this passage, not only will their reading skills be trained, but they will also reflect on the health care system of our own country and thus know better about our country. Students are required to prepare a survey about healthy living in Task, which can not only train students’ speaking ability, but also can raise students’ awareness of cooperation. The last part is actually a summary of the whole module, through which students may know where their weak points lie and thus can make up for them. 三维目标1. 知识与技能1)Develop students’ communicating skills.2)Train students’ reading ability.3)Learn the following phrases: pay for, as a result, work for, stop doing, begin with, do a survey with, take turns. . .4)Learn the following sentence patterns: Britain was the first country in the world to have a free health care system paid for by the government. (This/That is because +clause. )The problem with this system is that poorer people don’t have the money to pay for private healthy insurance. (the problem with sth. )2. 过程与方法1)Discussion to know more about the health care system of some countries.2)Explanations to understand the passage better.3)Practice to train students’ writing skills.4)Help students have a good knowledge of what they learnt in this module.3. 情感与价值Through the study of this period, students will surely improve their logical thinking. Besides, they can learn more about the health care system of some foreign countries. At the same time, they will consciously compare the health care system of China with that of foreign countries. 教学重点1. Train students’ logical thinking by putting some sentences in the right order.2. Improve their reading skills.3. Acquaint them with the health care system of foreign countries.4. Help them master and apply what they have learnt in this module. 教学难点1. Lead the students to be active in class.2. Develop students’ wring skills.3. Prepare a survey about healthy living. 教学过程→Step 1 Revision1. Greet students as usual.2. Ask a good pair to present their dialogue to the whole class. →Step 2 Writing1. Show the following sentences on the screen and ask students to put them in the right order to make a paragraph.(Show the following sentences on the screen. )a. He said that chocolate and cheese can often give you migraine.b. I see lights in front of my eyes and I have to sleep in a dark room.c. He examined me and asked me questions about my symptoms.d. For three years, I have had very bad headaches about three or four times a month.e. And now I don’t get migraines any more. I feel great.f. I am a sixteen-year-old boy.g. So I stopped eating chocolate and cheese.h. Two months ago I went to see a doctor about my headaches. Suggested answers:1. f 2. d 3. b 4. h 5. c 6. a 7. g 8. e2. Students work in pairs to discuss Zhou Kai’s cold, i. e. the cause, symptoms as well as the treatment of his cold.3. A speech relay for the whole class is suggested. The title can be Zhou Kai’s cold. Each student may speak out a sentence for another one to continue with. The purpose of this activity is to train their logical thinking.4. Write a paragraph about a small health problem that they have had. You may wish to remind them of the following points: (Show the following on the screen. )1. Begin with some information about yourself.2. Say what the problem was.3. Explain what you did or what happened.4. Explain how things ended. →Step 3 Cultural Corner1. Pre-reading1)Elicit students’ previous knowledge about the situation of health care in China by relating the things concerning health care that happened in our real life. For example, you may wish to mention the incident in which a couple tied to each other jumped into the river because they can not afford the expensive medical expenses.2)Encourage students to discuss the health care system in some other countries such as Britain, America and Canada, which aims to prepare them for the reading of the passage.2. While reading1)Ask students to read out the questions that they have to answer.2)A discussion in pairs to bring out the main idea of each paragraph.Paragraph 1: A general introduction to the health care system.Paragraph 2: The health care system in Britain.Paragraph 3: The health care system of America.Paragraph 4: The characteristics of the health care system in Ca。
