Magnum opus3.Literary style1.Brief introduction of Dickens's lifeCharles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812, the son of John and Elizabeth Dickens. John Dickens had a poor head for finances, and in 1824 found himself imprisoned for debt. His wife and children, except Charles, who was put to work at Warren's Blacking Factory, joined him in the Marshalsea Prison. When his father was finally released, the twelve-year-old Dickens, was further wounded by his mother's insistence that he continue to work at the factory. And between 1824 and 1827 Dickens was a day pupil at a school in London. At fifteen, he found employment as an office boy at an attorney's, while he studied shorthand at night. His brief stint at the Blacking Factory haunted him all of his life In 1829 he became a free-lance reporter at Doctor's Commons Courts, and in 1830 he met and fell in love with Maria Beadnell, the daughter of a banker. In 1833 his relationship with Maria ended.In 1834, still a newspaper reporter, he adopted the soon to be famous pseudonym “Boz. Later in his life both of his parents (and his brothers) were frequently after him for money. In 1835 he met and became engaged to Catherine Hogarth. Bleak House , formerly known as Fort House, is a large house on the cliff overlooking the North Foreland and Viking Bay in Broad stairs , Kent . Charles Dickens lived and worked in Bleak House during summers holidays with his family spent from 1837 to 1859. In April 2009 it was put on the market for sale for 2 million pounds 1836-1869 he devoted to writing. During these years, he also travelled many countries, like America, Canada, Lausanne and so on. Suffers a stroke on June 8 at Gad's Hill, after a full day's work. Dies on June 9, and is buried at Westminster Abbey on June 14,1870. 2. His satires of British aristocratic snobbery—he calls one character the “Noble Refrigerator“—are often popular. Dickens's novels were, among other things, works of social commentary. He was a fierce critic of the poverty and social stratification of Victorian society. His literary style is also a mixture of fantasy and realism .。
