General Motors: General Motors Corporation (GM) is the worlds largest manufacturer of automobiles and one of the worlds largest manufacturers of trucks. GM sells about 30 percent of all cars and trucks in the US and about 15 percent of all cars and trucks in the world. Based in Detroit, Michigan, GM is the largest corporation in the US based on overall sales. 8. Laurel and Hardy: They refer to two famous comedians, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston, England in 1890 and died in 1965. Oliver Hardy was born in Georgia of the US in 1892 and died in 1957. They were a pair of seemingly mismatched clowns in their films. Their first encounter was in the movie Lucky Dog, and after featuring in the movie Duck Soup they transformed into the best comedy duo of cinema history.Difficult Language Points in the Text 1.
