      本文结合作者自身英语学习经历,从阅读、翻译、听说、交际四个方面,就英语综合能力的提高提出了具有建设性的应对策略关键词:英语;综合能力;阅读;翻译;听说;交际 Abstract: The quality standard of talents in the 21st century depends on three major elements, i.e., knowledge, competence and quality, which calls for the reform and innovation of the traditional teaching concept and approach. Based on the author’s personal practice and experience, the paper presents a series of constructive learning strategies in terms of reading, translation, listening and speaking, and communication aiming at dealing with improving English comprehensive competences of college students.Key words: English; Comprehensive competences; Reading; Translation; Listening and speaking; Communication引 言 近年来,随着市场英语人才的日趋饱和以及就业竞争压力的日益增大,“如何提高自身核心竞争力”成为摆在我们这些即将面临毕业的英语专业应届生面前的一道无法回避的现实课题。

      In recent years, with the gradual saturation of English talents and the more and more serious press of employment compete, how to improve the core competitive of ourselves is becoming a unavoidable realistic subject which we English major graduates face. 在毕业实习的半年时间里,我毅然选择离开家乡和父母,踏上前往上海的进修之路,目的只有一个:在实践中积累经验,为以后的发展打下更坚实的基础During the half year of my graduation practice. I chose to leave my hometown and my parents for Shanghai for only one purpose. That is to accumulate my experience which can build solid foundation for my future development.本文既是对这半年学习经历的一份总结,也将为我四年的专业学习划上一个圆满的句号。

      This thesis is not only a conclusion of my half year of learning experience but also a full end of my four years college life.一、 如何提高英语阅读能力先谈谈我首先接触到的一门课——阅读,更高、更深层次的阅读当我看到一本厚厚的以前从未接触过的高难度英语阅读课本时,不免心生疑虑:我有能力征服它们吗?在我看来,英语阅读能力的提高关键在于以下几点:积累、了解句型结构和背景知识、练习集中力、掌握阅读的节奏、习惯取舍和阅读顺序的把握 Id like to talk about the first subject I contact that is reading. It is a higher level reading. I wonder whether I can conquer it when I face the thick English reading text books. In my opinion, the key points to improve the English reading ability are accumulation, knowing sentence structure and background, concentration, mastering reading rhythm and reading turns and so on. 阅读的常见题材一般分为:新闻(News)、特写(Feature)、社论(Editorial)。

      在开始阅读时,我们往往会忽略文章题材的判断,这样我们的阅读很容易迷失方向,并最终导致答题的方向性失误下面仅就我个人在阅读训练过程中积累的一些经验试作阐述:The common reading subjects are usually divided into New, Feature, Editorial. We are likely to ignore to judge the subjects when we start reading. That makes us confused leading to wrong answers. Now Ill explain some experience accumulated during my reading train. 新闻类型的阅读材料通常伴随以下几个特点:1、以陈述事实为主要目的;2、话题比较新,具有时效性;3、主题开门见山,通常出现在第一段或第二段靠前部分;4、主要内容为事实的铺陈,少有作者个人观点;5、典型的倒金字塔型居多(“倒金字塔”是形象的说法,即文章开头部分就会出现主题句,下文内容紧扣主题阐述)News reading materials has some features which are purpose ofstating the facts, new topic with timeliness, no personal views and typical La Pyramide Inversee( La Pyramide Inversee is a form that topic sentence appear in the beginning with the content sticking closely to subject. 对于特写类型的材料,一定要注意文章中的三类标志词:第一类、转折性连接用语,如:but,yet,however等;第二类、表示猜测或揭露的语汇,如:probable, improbable, probably, reveal, disclose, show, prove, suggest, uncover等;第三类、引出强烈意见或建议的语汇,如:argue, believe, hold, assert, deny, debate, point out, note, emphasize等。

      About the materials of feature, three kinds of significant words should be paid attention to. The first kind is adversative connecting words such as but, yet, and however and so on. The second is guessing words and revealing words such as probable, improbable, probably, reveal, disclose, show, prove, suggest, uncover and so on. The third is suggestive words such as argue, believe, hold, assert, deny, debate, point out, note, emphasize and so on.最后一个题材是社论,其特点如下:1、以评论为主要目的;2、话题和用语比较严肃、正式;3、主题开门见山(第一段靠后,第二段靠首);3、一定会引出对立的观点;4、结构清晰,首尾呼应。

      而当一篇社论中出现以下两类标志词时,则表示可能会有与题目相关的观点出现:第一类、转折词,如:however,instead;第二类、强烈的意见或建议,如:note, acknowledge, argue, assert, insist, hold, deny, point out, debate, suggest, show, prove, demonstrate, reveal等The last topic is editorial. Its characteristics are purposes with comments, official and serious, having a distinct theme and opposite idea, and with clear structure and so on. It means that there will be some ideas relevant with the topic when the next two kinds of significant words appear in a editorial. One is the a。
