As you can see in the picture, he often plays with his friends in the water.3Go to night school•Later on, Yu Lai goes to the night school. During the classes, his teacher teaches him the following common words, “I am a Chinese, I love my motherland.”4One day5 • In the autumn, the Japanese invaders begin to conduct the mop-up operations (sweeping attack) once more. One day, when Yu Lai is reading his book on the bed, he hears someone running on the road. while he plans to go out and see what happened, someone rushes into his room. It is Uncle Li, an anti-Japanese soldier in his village. •It’s obvious that the Japanese are chasing for Uncle Li. At that dangerous time, Yu Lai promptly helps Uncle Li conceal himself into the tunnel.6Help Uncle Li7The Japanese come in8 •Then he pretends to continue reading his book in the room. Short while, the Japanese and the translator come in. The translator gives him some sweets and asks whether he had seen someone rush into. Yu Lai replies no.•The Japanese get angry at once, then they hit Yu Lai roughly on his face and beat him badly. In that case, our brave little hero hasn’t revealed any word about Uncle Li’s location. 9They beat him badly10They plan to shoot him11•The Japanese are so outraged by Yu Lai’s reaction that they plan to execute him by shooting beside the river. After a few gun shorts, the invaders leave away. The fellow villagers and friends come to the river with tears. They think Yu Lai was killed by the invaders.12At that time•At that time, a little head breaks the surface of water and asks whether the Japanese had gone. All the people gladly scream, “Yu Lai hasn’t died!”13So that is how it is14 •So that how it is. When the Japanese carried him beside the river, Yu Lai took advantage of a favourable situation. He jumped into the water and swam to the far distance from the bottom of the river. The invaders shot at the water at once, but our little hero has already swum far away.15。
