64页Unit One LOVE1 What is love ?nLove is a deep feeling of fondness, affection and friendship that grows between people nTo love is to be human, to be loved is also to be human.nLove is a universal emotion that expresses itself in every culture. 2What is LovenLove is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment. Love may be described as actions towards others (or oneself) based on compassion, or as actions towards others based on affection. n Impersonal lovenA person can be said to love an object, principle, or goal if they value it greatly and are deeply committed to it. People can also "love" material objects, animals, or activities if they invest themselves in bonding or otherwise identifying with those things.nInterpersonal lovenInterpersonal love refers to love between human beings. It is a more potent sentiment than a simple liking for another. Interpersonal love is most closely associated with interpersonal relationships. Such love might exist between family members, friends, and couples. 3How to Love1. Say it. When you say the words "I Love You", they should carry with them the desire to show someone that you love them, not what you simply want to feel. When you say it, make sure you really mean it and are willing to do anything for that special person.2. Empathize. Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Rather than impose your own expectations or attempt to control them, to understand how they feel, where they come from, and who they are. Realize how they could also love you back just as well.4How to Love3. Love unconditionally. If you cannot love another person without attaching stipulations, then it is not love at all, but deep-seated opportunism (one who makes the most of an advantage, often unmindful of others). If your interest is not in the other person as such, but rather in how that person can enhance your experience of life, then it is not unconditional. If you have no intention of improving that person’s life, or allowing that person to be themselves and accepting them as they are, and not who you want them to be, then you are not striving to love them unconditionally.4. Expect nothing in return. That doesn't mean you should allow someone to mistreat or undervalue you. It means that giving love does not guarantee receiving love. Try loving just for the sake of love. Realize that someone may have a different way of showing his or her love for you; do not expect to be loved back in exactly the same way.5How to love5. Realize it can be lost. If you realize that you can lose the one you love, then you have a greater appreciation of what you have. Think how lucky you are to have someone to love. Don't make an idol of the person you love. This will place them under undue pressure and will likely result in you losing them.6. Never stop loving. Even if you have been hurt before you should not stop giving love.6 Different kinds of lovenPossible alternatives:n1) Loving members of one’s family: parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, husband, wife, children, grandchildrenn2) Loving one’s life, animals, nature, etc.n3)Though there’re all kinds of love, the essence of them is the same. nLove between animals1213What is your point of views on this news?14Love between AnimalsnThe main difference between animal emotions and human emotions is that animals don't have mixed emotions the way normal people do. Animals aren't ambivalent; they don't have love-hate relationships with each other or with people. That's one of the reasons humans love animals so much; animals are loyal. If an animal loves you, he doesn't care what you look like or how much money you make. 15In-Class Reading Love16Introduction of Jesse StuartnJesse Hilton Stuart (August 8, 1907 – February 17, 1984) was an American writer who is known for writing short stories, poetry, and novels about Southern Appalachia.
