DreamWhat is a dream?A dream is the thoughts, images, and feelings that you experience when you are asleep.梦就是你在睡觉中所经历的想法，图像和感受日有所思，夜有所梦What you think about during the daytime will be expressed in your dreams at night.每个人都有梦人们很好奇到底梦意味着什么Everybody has dreams. People are curious about what those dreams imply.在很多古代社会，比如古埃及古希腊，做梦被认为是超自然的一种沟通In many ancient societies, such as those of Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication.【注意：supernatural 超自然的；supernatural powers 超自然力量】很多人努力去解释梦的含义。

So a lot of efforts have been made to “interpret the dreams.”在中国古代，有“周公解梦”In ancient China, we had a book called “dream-interpretation by Duke Zhou ”.对梦境的科学研究，在西方最著名的人就是奥地利心理学家弗洛伊德Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud.他的著作的《梦的解析》是心理学历史上的最重要作品之一In modern world, The Interpretation of Dreams is one of the most important works( 作 品 ) in psychology.根据这本书的观点，梦想是愿望的满足According to the book, all dreams are forms of “wish fulfillment”.而梦是怎么形成的？弗洛伊德开创性地提出了潜意识的理论（The unconscious）潜意识是是一种潜藏在大脑深处不被我们感知的力量弗洛伊德认为，愿望来自于人的潜意识力量，而梦境是这种愿望的体现。

According to Freud, unconscious forces construct a wish. And the wish is expressed by the dream.所以，梦想，就是由我们内心深处的潜意识形成的愿望，换句话说，也就是潜意识中你最想要的东西无论是中文还是英文，演讲当中大量使用梦想这个词来代替人的愿望英文演讲中最著名的一个就是，马丁路德金(Martin Luther King)的 I have a dream.这篇历史性的演讲是 1963 年 8 月 28 日马丁路德金在在华盛顿林肯纪念堂发表的演讲中的dream 就是希望美国真正实现种族的平等 I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”我梦想有一天，我的四个孩子将在一个不是以他们的肤色，而是以他们的品格优劣来评价他们的国度里生活。

有关 dream 的重要用法：在英文中，如果你梦想做一件事，可以说 dream of doing sth.造句：在小时候，莫扎特梦想成为一名优秀的音乐家As a little boy, Mozart dreamed of becoming a brilliant musician.我梦想环游世界听记 1）我们梦想生活在一个没有烦恼的世界里We dream of living in a world free from worries.如果梦想成真了，你可以说 It is a dream come true.If you say something is a dream come true, it becomes reality after you have wanted it to happen for a long time.比如一个人 Mark 一直梦想考上哈佛大学，当他收到哈佛的录取通知的时候，会说：Going toHarvard is a dream come true in my life.一个运动员拿到世界冠军会说：Having a world champion in my career is a dream come true.由于梦想往往寄托人们美好的希望，所以，这个词也作为形容词表示特别棒, 特别完美的东西。

She is my dream girl. 她是我的梦中女孩注意：梦中情人还有一个词： dreamboat (更多用于男性)】This is my dream house. 这是我理想中的房子 比如：面朝大海，春暖花开.... 这是我理想中的工作：This is my dream job.工作中你加入了个棒的团队，你可以说 ：We are the dream team.NBA 的梦之队叫： the Dream Team2. Age n.1）年龄虽然这个词太基础了，很多同学未必能正确使用：不信？好，请快速造句：我上大学的时候 16 岁 I went to college at the age of 16. 【或 at age 16】我的同学 Frank 和我同龄 My classmate Frank is the same age as me.口语中可能会说： My classmate Frank is sort of my age.【sort of 作为口语中语气，表示差不多】班上只有 2 个和我同龄的同学：I have only two classmates of my age.一个 7 岁女孩上台表演，唱歌唱得很好，虽然和专业的歌手还有差距，但人们会说“就她的这个年龄来说，已经表现得很棒了。

She has done a great job for her age.小孩问大人一个问题，如果解释不通大人经常对小孩说：“当你到了我这个年纪，你就会明白的When you are my age, you will understand.（When you are my age=when you are as old as me）在一个公园你看到通告：10 岁以下儿童以及 70 岁以上老人免费入场Admission is free for kids under the age of 10 and people over the age of 70. 【the age of 可省略，也可以简化为：under 10；over 70 】2） 注意口语中的很多灵活意思都是“年龄”的引申，注意体会你走进英国的一个酒吧 Pub，发现有些家具已显陈旧Some of the furniture in the pub was showing signs of age.好酒越陈越香Fine wines improve with age.我们生活在一个信息时代听记 2）3） age v. 变老，显老比如：看到母亲头发渐渐花白，你会说：My mom has aged a lot in the past few years. 我妈在过去几年中苍老了许多。

英文歌曲《I swear》中有歌词：当时光翻过岁月的书页，我的爱不会老去As the time turns the page, my love wont age at all.当人们渐渐变老，老龄人口比例增加，一个社会将进入老龄化社会， 叫做 aging society，人口老龄化就叫 aging population比如，在日本三分之一的人口超过 60 岁One out of three people in Japan is aged over 60.【注意：这里的 aged 是形容词，表示：岁数为…的】中国也面临人口老龄化的挑战听记 3）3. Channel n.1）海峡，两个水域之间的狭窄水上通道，位于两个大陆或大陆与岛屿之间 比如：英国法国之间的 The English Channel大写 The Channel 特指英吉利海峡The Channel stands for the English Channel.为什么？没办法，毕竟英语是人家英国人发明的嘛. Channel 的同义词是 strait, 两者常可以替换，但是要尊重人们的习惯用词：比如： 台湾海峡英文是 Taiwan Strait海峡两岸的关系:Cross-Strait ties refer to the relations between mainland China and Taiwan.造句：我们将努力改善海峡两岸的关系。

We will make efforts to improve cross-strait ties.2） Channel 往往是一个狭窄的通道，所以，引申为“渠道” 比如，一个公司销售产品的渠道叫：sales channels.我们获取信息的渠道叫：information channels.3） 电视是我们获取信息的一个重要渠道，所以电视的频道也叫作“TV Channels” 看英语新闻可能会看： CNN 或者 Fox news Channel喜欢纪录片的同学可能会喜欢：discovery channel （探索频道）or National Geographic Channel （国家地理） 喜欢看动画片的小朋友喜欢： Disney Channel 迪士尼频道喜欢看体育的朋友可能会看： Star Sports 星空卫视体育台4）另外，channel 还可以作为动词使用，渠道的作用是什么？是可以输送货物资讯等，所以：Channel 作为动词表示“输送，导向”来看这样一句话：Most of Shakespeare’s energy was channeled into writing.莎士比亚的所有精力都被“输送”到了写作上，也就是，所有精力都集中投入了写作。
