二十世纪八十年代以來,翻译学者逐渐 将目光放在翻译补偿理论的研究上不少中外学者都对翻译补偿做出过界定这 些成果都为补偿理论的具体实践奠定了坚实的基础木文以翻译补偿理论为理论支架,以《生死疲劳》的葛浩文译木为蓝木,试 图从词汇角度,语篇角度以及审美角度对翻译补偿策略的应用进行探究,通过选 取《生死疲劳》英译木中的语言实例进行个案研究,证明了翻译补偿理论尤其是 翻译补偿策略的合理性及可行性文旨在为补偿理论在实践中的应用捉供新思 路,以期对翻译学者有所启示关键词 《生死疲劳》;补偿策略;词汇;语篇;审美ABSTRACTWith the further development of globalization and the processing of cultural diversity, excellent literature works spread at a higher speed and expand at a larger scope. So it is crucial to guarantee the quality of these works. Due to the lingual and cultural differences between source language and target language, it is unavoidable to lose the semantic meaning and aesthetic value of source text. Translation compensation must be employed to make up such losses- Since the 1980s, more and more attention has been given to the study and employment of translation compensation and now it plays an essential role in both the theoretical study and practice. Many translators and scholars at home and abroad have given their ideas on translation compensation. All these research achievements lay a theoretical foundation for its application in practice.Based on compensation theory, this thesis try to analyze compensation strategies applied in Life and Death Were Wearing Me Out, which is rendered by Howard Goldblatt, from the perspective of vocabulary, discourse and aesthetic value・ Firstly, this paper looks back into the history of translation compensation, sorting the different thoughts into different types, and makes a brief explanation on i匸 Secondly, it focuses on analyzing compensation strategies by selecting typical places in Life and Death Were Wearing Me Out, illustrating the reasonablility and feasibility of compensation strategies. However, it was not until the 1980s did the translation field pay special attention to translation compensation. Foreign scholars such as Eugene A. Nida, Peter Newmark, Wolfram Wilss and Mona Baker have all given their opinions on translation compensation. In China, Xia Tingde is the first person who makes a comprehensive and systematic study on this subject and his monography A Study on Translation Compensation is the first treatise on compensation in China. In his book, Xia redefines the definition and divides compensation into eight categories based on the dimensions of time, space and means・ At the same time, Xia (2006) also puts forward six principles that should be followed when compensation strategies are employed in translation. The development of compensation theory also promotes exploration on its practical use.Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out is the masterpiece of Mo Yan, who is the Nobel literature laureate in 2012. He is famous for "Magic Realism" which is also successfully represented in this book. As most of his works, the story of this book is set in Gaomi County, Shandong province, presenting the life of peasants and lower-class vividly. This story tells the six-pa。
