The couple decided to go to the doctor’s . Unfortunately , the doctor refused to treat because they dont have enough money .Chapter 2 • Place：the gulf , in a canoe (独木舟) • Plots : Because the attention required by their son ,the couple go into the gulf with their son together . Kino discover a large oyster , in which he get the pearl of the world . Meanwhile , Juana (his wife) try to cure their son with brown seaweed ,indeed their son’s swollen shoulder is disappearing. • The chapter ended with the news that kino discovered the pearl and their son was cured Chapter 3 • Basic points 1, the reactions of the whole town caused by the founding of the pearl . 2，the couple’s attitude towards the pearl The priest ----hoping to gather money for the church from the pearl The doctor ----declare that he will treat their child . The beggers ---hoping to get some money • Actually the child was cured , but he trick the parents and put poison to the children . Ask for money to treat the child again .•The reactions by the people The attitude of the couple towards the pearl • Some people are so jealous of the pearl that they try to steal it at night . Kino was injured when he try to prevent the pearl from stealing . • Kino -----the pearl will bring good fortune , it can bring them wealth and better life ,good education for their children . • Juana -----“the pearl is like a sin , it will destroy us .”she wants to throw the pearl away . • The chapter ends with the possible good it will bring . Chapter 4 (1)• Kino was going to the town to sell the pearl ,much to his disappointment , the dealer only offer a very small amount of money. • The dealer went through the already pre- arranged plot with other three dealers . One dealer ---offer no money at all Second ----declare the pearl will die in short time Third --- offer 500. Feeling being cheated , kino didn’t sell the pearl and went back to home .Chapter 4 (2)At night, he heard some noises and went to outside to check .unfortunately he was again hit by someone who intend to rob the pearl , but he cant recognize their identities. Juana again persuade her husband to throw away the pearl and told him it ‘s the evil as much as fortune . But kino still refused , believing it’s the only way to get wealth and get good education for their children . Chapter 5 (1)• Plot: in this part , juana tried to throw the pearl away , because she thought the pearl is noting but the evil . One night , she steal the pearl and try to throw it back to the ocean without realizing that her husband was following her . When she raised her hand , kino seized her and beat her like an animal . After that , kino was suffered his third attack . This time , he was seriously injured , before he lose total conscious , he stab the robber and killed him .but the pearl was knock off his hands .Chapter 5 (2)• When juana was recovered from the blow that kino gave her , she found her husband was lying unconsciously . She wake up her husband and help him find the pearl . Knowing kino killed a person ,they decided to escape.When they get back to their home ,they found house was on fire . They get out the baby and hide in kino’s brother’s.Chapter 6 • The last chapter begins with their journey of escaping . At first , kino was still positive with the good fortune the pearl would bring. As they continue their journey , they discovered that some trackers was following them . So they are forced to head for the higher mountains . Kino made some wrong trails in the hope of confusing the trackers . Unfortunately , the tracker decided camp around the spring . Knowing the fact that they would either be found by the trackers or killed. Kino made a decision to Chapter 6 (2)• Attack them first at night before being found . At night , kino was successed in killing the three trackers .meanwhile he have to face the death of his son when he get back to where they hide . Realizing the pearl only brings misfortune ,kino decided to throw away the pearl . They went to the seaside and kino gave the pearl to his wife to throw it away . Juana think kino should make the decision himself . Finally , kino throw the pearl away with all his might …………….the end My thoughts after reading • This story fulls ups and downs (跌但起伏), from the beginning of finding the pearl to the end of throwing it away。
