It is proven that the younger the ELL is the easier it is to teach the L2. -It progresses at different rates depending on the age of the ELL Sound System: How do second language learners learn the sound system and rules of the second language?-Listening and speaking not only in a classroom environment but also on a school bus, or in a grocery store. -What sounds are difficult to reproduce?Learning Environment: Where does early L2 language acquisition take place and under what type of conditions?- under conditions of naturally picking up a language from the surrounding linguistic environment- Controlled environment-Is the environment suitable for the ELL?-Does the ELL feel safe and does the ELL trust the teacher?Related Factors: What is interlanguage and fossilization and how do these things impact SLA?-Fossilization are rules, words and related language items that the ELL retains in their interlanguage while they are learning L2-Fossilization impacts SLA because fossilization in many cases create permanent errors that are difficult to re-teach or unlearn. -Interlanguage is when the ELL creates their own language when learning L2.
