The paper mainly analyzed the translation strategies of the culture-specific items used in the English version The Three-Body Problem I. The results showed that translator tend to use the cultural retention strategy, which aims to convey the true picture of Chinese society and culture; at the same time it is supplemented by other translation strategies to spread Chinese culture more widely.Key words: The Three-Body Problem; Culture-specific Items; Translation Strategy iii 摘 要我国科幻小说家刘慈欣的长篇作品《三体》极具浓郁的中国文化特色，其中涉及很多的“文化专有项”。

IntroductionFor a long time, culture has been recognized as one of the important factors affecting translation activities. “Cultural differences are more difficult for translators than differences in language structure,” says Nida (2000:130). Therefore, the translation barriers caused by cultural differences are the core problems faced by translators in the translation process. This paper studies Liu Cixins novel. Liu Cixin, Chinese science fiction writer, has promoted Chinese science fiction to the world level. His novel The Three-Body Problem won the Hugo Reward, known as the "Nobel Prize of science fiction". For such a classic version, if the author can make an overall empirical study of the translation, he can grasp the translator’s translation strategies comprehensively, which can draw more reliable conclusions. In view of the above considerations, the author studied the whole translation. Firstly, the culture-specific items in The Three-Body Problem are sorted out by referring to the existing relevant studies, then each culture-specific item and its translation are examined one by one, and frequency statistics are made on the translation strategies used by the translators, so as to comprehensively and objectively reflect the translation position of the translator.1.1 Research BackgroundLiu Cixin’s works have very strong Chinese cultural characteristics and elements, so “The Three-Body Problem” is not entirely virtualized time and space in terms of a lot of words and phrases involves Chinese elements, and it deserves our attention and study.
