旅游英语翻译注意事项.ppt

Translation on Tourism Materials旅游资源翻译的两条原则:•1.以中国文化为取向•尽量保留和宣传中国文化•2.以读者的接受能力为重点•从读者角度出发旅游文本翻译问题：•1.语言文化差异•2用词不准确•3.切忌逐字翻译语言文化差异•“小心路滑”有人译为“Notice: The roads are very slippery ” 不符合英文的标语习惯，可以改为“Slippery Road！” 如果是室内，还可改为“Caution：Wet Floor！” •文化上的缺失 比如“秦始皇”仅仅译成Qin Shihuang, 可能外国游客就无法理解，如果适当补充历史背景，增译为“Qin Shihuang, the first emperor in the Chinese History who unified China in the year BC221.”就更能被外国游客所理解 “泼水节”如果只翻译为“Water Sprinkling Festival”，外国游客只能了解到泼水节的表层字面含义，而对于节日的意义不甚了解 如译成“Water Sprinkling Festival——a big festival for the Dai nationality to wish everyone happiness by splashing water to one another.”对特殊的民族风情稍加解释，外国游客理解中国风俗文化会更深刻全面。

用词要准确 简洁明了•例如“草堂寺”中的“草”就有人简单译成straw，给人的感觉是这个cottage全是用straw建的，没有别的材料•其实我们知道，这种茅草屋只有房顶是用茅草覆盖的，所以不妨将其译成thatched cottage 更好一些 •南京雨花石博物馆 “雨花石”的“石”到底用哪个词好呢？有人建议用pebbles（small stone made smooth and round by the action of water，即小圆石或卵石）， 从外形上说这个词好像比较合适但它在外国人看来有肮脏的含义，因此pebble应该放弃Stone是石头的总称，而且除了表示石头外，还可以表示precious stone，即珍贵的石头所以最终还是选用了很常用的词，译为“Yuhua Stone Museum” •“新石器时代”和“旧石器时代”也不一定非要译为“Neolithie Age”和“Paleolithic Age”；“New Stone Age”和“Old Stone Age”完全可以胜任不要逐字乱译•例如，某客运站中英文指示牌上写着“请带好随身物品”，相应的英文翻译是“please take good personal luggage”。

这种逐字翻译只会让外国游客啼笑皆非，有损我国形象•中国东方航空上海航空公司安检处，工作人员错将提示语“请在一米线外等候”英文翻译为“please wait outside rice-flour noodle”，变成了“请在米线外等候” 正确译法 Please wait outside the one-meter line举例举例常用翻译策略图示翻译常用方法改写改写增译增译删减删减转译转译（一）改写•为了利于读者理解和避免歧义，或为使句子简练明了，将一些难懂的词和句进行改写1.West lake is like a mirror, embellishedall around with green hills and deep cavesOf enchanting beauty.2.
