This example uses WinFiol 6.0. 1. Ensure that a user has been set up to allow remote connection to the APG40 and is also authorized to connect to the AXE. For information on how to set up a user on the APG40 for AXE access,2. Start WinFiol and using the menu select Channel -> Open. This will open the "Target Manager" dialog box.3. Press the "New" tab. In the "New Channel name" text box, enter the name to be used to identify this channel:4. Click on the "Properties" tab to open the "Channel Properties" dialog box.5. Click on "Protocol" in the left side Properties tree. Select "TCP/IP (telnet) from the "Protocol" drop down list:6. Click on "Mode" in the left side Properties tree. Tick the "Switch from buffered mode to setup mode..." checkbox and enter "C:\>" into the "...when receiving" text box:This will enable WinFiol to switch automatically to setup mode from buffered mode when switching from an AXE prompt to the APG40 command line. Setup (or tty) mode is required for the use of the APG40 command line in WinFiol. Note that the automatic switch will only work if the current directory on the APG40 is C:\>. If logged into another directory the mode will have to be toggled manually when switching to the APG40 command line from the AXE prompt.7. Click on "Setup" in the left side Properties tree. Type in the host name (or IP address) and the port number in the appropriate text boxes. It is not necessary to enter a terminal type.There are two choices for port number: Port 23 or port 5000.Port 23 provides a telnet connection to the APG40. After connecting to this port the user will be at the APG40 command line (with a C:\> prompt). From here the user can issue APG40 commands, or use 'mml' to connect to the AXE.Port 5000 provides a direct telnet connection to the AXE command prompt. It is still possible to obtain an APG40 command line prompt when using this port by using the AXE command 'APLOC:' (and using the 'exit' command to return to the AXE prompt).8. Click on "Target" in the left side properties tree. In the "Target exchange type:" pulldown list, select APG40 (if APG40 is not available in the list, the APG30 selection will work fairly well also):9. Click on "OK" to close the "Channel Properties" dialog box. The channel is now ready to be used.If a new user is required to be set up on the APG40 for AXE access, or an existing APG40 user needs to be provided with AXE access, or there are other problems with permissions, see the information on. In the next page of the wizard, type in the IP address of the APG40 cluster that you wish to connect to. Although it is possible to use the IP address of one of the APG40 nodes, using the cluster IP address ensures that you will always connect to the currently active APG40 node (A or B):5.
