After your first question, ask follow-up questions, especially open-ended questions, to encourage the person you are talking with to go on with the conversation. Secondly, give extra information. When answering questions, try to give extra information such as whom you did something with, when and where you did it, how it was. Thirdly, make comments. Encourage your conversation partner to go on talking by making comments on what he / she says.
