They are the evidence of the development of human beings. Without any vivid words or moving sound, the crooked streets restore our original life. As the text shows us that the crooked streets will never tire a man, and each will have its character, and each will have a soul of its own. However, such beautiful things are pulled down. The place which belongs to the crooked streets is now occupied with luxury of the tall building ,futilities of great governments and the fads of too powerful men. There is no ancient city but glories, or has gloried, in a whole foison and multitude of crooked streets. In recent years, former residences of China's famous people have been demolished one after another. The former home of composer Nie Er was reduced to debris in 2010; that of famous architect Liang Sicheng and his wife Lin Huiyin was demolished in January 2012; the headquarter feild of the former Kuomintang leader Chiang Kai-shek was demolished in February. The list goes on.Judging from the change of our life environment, we can say that our human beings are fond of modern society. Ridiculously, it is suggested that modern people prefer primitive lifestyle on the basis of the latest research. There are many evidences. In the holiday, groups of tourists will go to the Ancient Town of Lijiang, Classical Gardens of Suzhou or Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui-Xidi and Hongcun to enjoy the pristine building. And more and more millionaires want to gain a villa which is almost equal to country estate to escape the city full of sound and fury.So why do we pull down and do away with the Crooked Streets? And why we are so keen in rural life now? Should we let this cultural heritage continue to be destroyed, or should we build mini-museums to protect the old buildings? Which ones need our protection and how? The crooked streets remind me of my hometown, Qiandao Lake, which is located in Chun'an County, Zhejiang. It is home to lush forests (over 90%), and exotic islands. Its more popular attractions include Bird Island, Snake Island, Monkey Island, Lock Island (featuring supposedly the world's biggest lock), and the Island to Remind You of Your Childhood. In my opinion, a visit to these fantastic scenic is a must for every tourist visiting Qiandao Lake. Is Qiandao Lake a nature scenic? Definitely no. In order to build the Xin'an River hydroelectric station, residents in Chun'an sacrificed their beloved homeland to it. At the end of May 30, 1959, 0.29 million people in Chun'an were settled down in unfamiliar counties. What's more, two country seats, ancient Chun'an city and ancient Sui'an city, were totally flooded. They were quite famous historic buildings because their history can trace back to 1800 years ago and the buildings in these two cities are unique and wizardly. Many celebrities have been there, such as Libai, Wangwei, Luyou and Zhuxi. Last year, some archaeologists discovered that under the Qiandao Lake lies integrated ancient cities. People were shocked by the beauty and spectacularity of the pictures took by these archaeologists. Therefore, a furious debate began: whether we should destroy ancient Chun'an city and ancient Sui'an city to build the Xin'an River hydroelectric station or not? No doubt that the exploitation of the Qiandao Lake helps local residents improve their life condition and speed up into Xiaokang. However, we should respect relics and protect them. As well as the Crooked Streets, they are the precious resource not only for archaeological studies but for man's self-satisfaction. To my delight, now my hometown has remarked Qinchuan which is also a significant ancient city as a tourism region to protect the valuable history of Qinchuan. To sum up, I think when we carry out Urban Planning to beautify and standardize our country, we should ensure the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people, respect unrepeated history and protect environment. We need modern civilization which is supported by advanced technology and science to record the metamorphosis. In the meanwhile, we require relics which is produced by our industrious and sapiential fathers to witness the achievement. The Crooked Streets are production of the history. So do ancient Chun'an city, ancient Sui'an city and Qinchuan. We should respect them and save them. Just as a famous love saying goes" never start to regret after you really lose it". ----------------------------------。
