What’s the function of the second stanza? What is the symbolic meaning of "violet", and what is that of "star"?The one of the violet is the side that the outside world see her as if they did not always turn their heads. The other is a star which seems to exist for the writer to give the girl out of place or unexpected complements such as "fair" and "shinning."Do you think the image of star is contradictory to the image of violet? The two symbols seem to balance themselves out. The violet which gives a very modest, shy feeling through the use of words such as "half hidden" and "unknown." At the same time in her lover's eyes she is the single star, dominating his world, not haughtily as the sun but more sweet and modest, like a star. What is the theme of the poem?Loneliness:Lucy lived alone in a place that was unktrodden or not stepped in.She had on support from companions or family.Beauty in nature:Wordsworth portrays nature's beauty in his imagery; The untrodden ways beside the springs of Dove's Lucy lives in place whose natural beauty seems sacred, untrodden. The Ethereal Beauty of a Woman Wordsworth portrays a unique and unkonwn beautiful woman. She was as fair as a star, probably Venus that appears after sunnet,She was as beautiful as a flower, violent, beside a green stone,a mossy stone,She deserved great prlived alone.Unrequired Love:The word fair and the flower compariaon reveal love,THE final line expresses the poet's feeling fo loss at the death of such a beautiful woman.Death:Dying young .This poem mourns the death of Lucy, who has ceased to be.The poet pictures her in her grave.。
