They are coral reefs,the “rain forests of the sea” –beautiful underwater worlds. Coral reefs only cover 1 percent of the sea floor. But they support 25 percent of sea life! Coral itself is acturally a small living animal. These animals live together right near each other. Only the outside of the coral is alive, though. The rest of it is made up of the bodies of earlier generations of coral. Coral comes in many different shapes--round, branchlike or even flat.
