It mainly narrates the activities of Bloom, Stephen and Molly in 18 hours from eight o""clock in the morning to two o""clock in the evening in 16th,June, 1904. In its narration Joyce has applied many narrative techniques and has created a lot of expression techniques. Here this paper will mainly focus on the analysis of the narrative characteristics of Nausicaa, the 13th episode of Ulysses from different perspectives.　　Parody　　In Odyssey, Odysseus is shipwrecked on the coast of the island of Scheria.Odysseus emerges, after being awoken by Nausicaa and her handmaidens"" games, from the forest and begs Nausicaa for aid.Between Odysseus and Nausicaa there exists a account of love never expressed.　　While in Ulysses, at 8 o""clock at the sea-shore near the Martello Tower, Bloom cast glances of love at a woman called Getry MacDowell who is a lame girl.The shift of the hero and heroine from the king and princess in Odyssey to Bloom,a common citizen and Gerty, a lame girl in this episode shows that James Joyce is against the individualism put forward by Renaissance and that the modernism pays much attention to the folk heroes. And The noble behavior between Odysseus and Nausicaa is comparison to Bloom""s obscene behavior which shows that the alienation and twist of modern people.　　The change of styles　　This episode consist of two parts:the description of Certy; the stream of consciousness of Bloom.While these two parts are written in two different styles: The first part is written in the romantic style. For example, "The three girl friends were seated on the rocks,.....discuss matters feminine."(13:10).　　While the second part is written in monologue of stream of consciousness. For example,"Where did I put the letter? Yes, all right. All kinds of crazy longings."(13:779). Here the writer has applied the technique of change of styles to express the theme of this episode.　　Intertextuality　　The intertextuality in this episode is reflected by the intertextuality of adoption and rearrangement of classical works.For example, "Many a time and oft were......printed on both."(13:9)" has adopted the words from The Life and Death of Julies Caesar written by William Shakespeare.
