Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929. 2. Montgomery bus boycott lasted 382 days. During these days of boycott, King was arrested, his home was bombed, he was subjected to personal abuse, but at the same time he emerged as a Negro leader of the first rank (一流的 ). 3. In 1957 he was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization for the now burgeoning Civil Rights Movement. 4. He was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1963. 7. At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr. was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. 8. He spoke on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. 4. Martin was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. 5. Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered in 1968.
