He began his acting career after applying for a placement at TVB, Hong Kong's leading television station. Chow's application was at first denied, but after a friends recommendation, he was then accepted into the night classes at TVB's Acting Training class, a course which the company held for its new actors. In 1983, after signing a long-term contract with the company, Chow co-hosted his first show, the children's programme, 430 Space Shuttle. The show also featured other actors who would all later gain fame in their own right, including Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Ekin Cheng and Athena Chu-yun. After four years presenting the show, Chow's popularity amongst audiences had grown due to the way he would tease the children on the show. Following his departure from 430 Space Shuttle, he then starred in his first drama series for the company, The Price Of Growing Up, and soon followed with his film debut in Final Justice. For his role in Final justice(霹雳先锋), Chow played Ah Wai, a young car thief who is forced into helping cop Cheung Tih-chu, catch a gang of gun smugglers. Starring in the lead role and also the movies producer was Danny Lee, who later claimed to discover Chow. The movie won Chow the famed Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 25th Taiwan Film Awards, and a nomination for Best Supporting Actor and Best New Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards.,Movies Yangtze River seven (2,008) Kung Fu Hustle (2004) Shaolin Soccer (2001) Tricky Master (1999) King Of Comedy (1999) The Lucky Guy (1998) Lawyer, Lawyer (1997) All's Well, Ends Well '97 (1997) God Of Cookery (1996) Forbidden City Cop (1996) Sixty Million Dollar Man (1995) Out Of The Dark (1995) A Chinese Odyssey Part 2: Cinderella (1995) A Chinese Odyssey part 1: Pandora's box (1995) From Beijing With Love (1994) Love On Delivery (1994) Hail The Judge (1994) Mad Monk (1993) Fight Back To School 3 (1993) Flirting Scholar (1993) Royal Tramp 2 (1992) Royal Tramp (1992) King Of Beggars (1992) Justice My Foot (1992) Thief Of Time (1992) All's Well, Ends Well (1992) Fist Of Fury '91 Part 2 (1992),Fight Back To School 2 (1992) Fight Back To School (1991) Fist Of Fury '91 (1991) Tricky Brains (1991) Magnificent Scoundrels (1991) God Of Gamblers 3 - Back To Shanghai (1991) When Fortune Smiles (1990) God Of Gamblers 2 (1990) All For The Winner (1990) Love Is Love (1990) Sleazy Dizzy (1990) My Hero (1990) Lung Fung Restaurant (1990) Triad Story (1990) Legend Of The Dragon (1990) Look Out, Officer!
